Spring 2017!!!!!!

It's about time for a spring blog post!! The beginning of April was the Home-School Tournament! Here JoAnna is doing a speech which she got first place with.
Me (Marie) doing my speech!I got second in Senior speech. The speech competition this year was a little different than most years. This year you had to memorize a speech from history or a passage of Scripture(which is part of history:). JoAnna recited the Gettysburg address and I recited part of the Sermon on the Mount. "...Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God..."
Two concentrated players competing in a chess game! Caleb got first place in chess which is quite an accomplishment considering all the competition there is in chess!
Caleb with all the other guys!
Receiving some awards!
Every year sometime in April our family heads down to the Ronald McDonald House which is located in Minneapolis. We make two meals for the people with sick children or relatives in the Gillette Childrens hospital. We also make blankets for the kids in the hospital. Here Mom is working on making one!
Esther with one of the blankets we made!
Playing some games together. Those 14+ are the only ones allowed to work in the kitchen so Esther and JoAnna were not able to work in the kitchen. Dad's leg was bothering him during this time so he wasn't able to help as much as he would've liked to.
At work in the kitchen.
Ready to serve supper!
JoAnna served the drinks! Notice the pans of apple crunch on the counter! That stuff is AMAZING!!!! I am so glad that God decided to create apples.
Kneading bread. This is what happens when you forget to bring your bread machine !!! :)

Mother!!!

It is good to break the silence here on this blog with the celebration of Mother.
Meek
Observant
Thoughtful
Humble
Enthusiastic
Reverent
Mom...three small letters, and yet they hold a treasure chest of meaning to a family.
Nurse, seamstress, gentle teacher, cook, housekeeper, adventurer,  gardener, organizer, researcher, advocate,  holding a PHD in child rearing... truly the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. It is hard to wrap the mind around the large job that a mother holds...24-7!
The Bible has much to say about women. Here are just a few a verses.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. I Peter 3:4

11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 1 Timothy 3:11

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches. Proverbs 11:16

14 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. Proverbs 14:1

There once was a man and a woman. They got married. This couple decided to let God decide the amount of children that they would have. As the children started to come, the parents gave up time, money, sleep! The children brought along a lot of struggles, pain, and sorrow; they also brought along, joy, opportunities, and adventures. This couple also decided to blaze a new trail, and home school their children. As the years continued to roll by, their love for God and each other only continued to grow not diminish. Their children would see them reading God's Word and would see the value of the Scriptures. In times when money was tight, they faithfully leaned on God. Opportunities for service to others came and were embraced as gifts from God.
I can't say enough how much I value, appreciate, and honor my parents. They would be the first to say they are far from perfect, that they are a work in progress.
But he that hath begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of judgement.
Mom has been right by Daddy's side every step of the journey that God has placed them on. What a blessing she is to our family. Please let us know in a comment how she has touched your life.
